How to Request a Free Eye Camp in Your Village
Millions of people in rural Uttar Pradesh live with preventable vision loss simply because they cannot travel to a city hospital. At Indumati Netralaya, we believe eye care should come to the people, not the other way around. That is why we conduct free eye screening camps in villages across Prayagraj, Mirzapur, Kaushambi, and surrounding districts. If your village needs an eye camp, here is how to request one.
What Is a Village Eye Camp?
A village eye camp is a free, one-day outreach programme where our medical team sets up a complete eye screening facility at a convenient location in your village. It could be a school, a community hall, a panchayat bhawan, or even an open ground. The goal is simple: screen as many people as possible and identify those who need treatment, especially cataract patients who can benefit from sight-restoring surgery.
Our camps are completely free. No registration fee, no consultation charge, no hidden costs. Every person who walks in receives a thorough eye examination at no expense.
What We Bring to Your Village
Each eye camp is a fully equipped mobile screening unit. Here is what our team brings:
- Ophthalmologist: A qualified eye surgeon to examine patients and diagnose conditions
- Optometrist: For vision testing and spectacle prescriptions
- Trained technicians: To operate diagnostic equipment and assist with patient flow
- Portable equipment: Slit lamp, ophthalmoscope, tonometer, visual acuity chart, and trial lens set
- Medicines: Basic eye drops and medications are dispensed free on the spot
- Registration materials: Patient record cards and referral slips for those needing hospital treatment
What Happens at an Eye Camp
A typical village eye camp follows a structured process designed to screen the maximum number of people efficiently:
- Registration: Villagers register with their name, age, and basic details. No documents are required for screening.
- Visual acuity testing: Each person's vision is tested for both near and distance sight using standard eye charts.
- Detailed eye examination: The ophthalmologist examines each patient using a slit lamp to check for cataracts, glaucoma, diabetic eye disease, and other conditions.
- Spectacle prescription: Patients who simply need glasses receive a prescription on the spot. In many camps, free spectacles are distributed.
- Diagnosis and counselling: Patients diagnosed with cataracts or other treatable conditions are counselled about the treatment options available to them.
- Referral for surgery: Those who need cataract surgery or advanced treatment receive a referral to Indumati Netralaya, where surgery is available free of cost under Ayushman Bharat or other schemes.
A single camp typically screens 150 or more patients in one day.
